HBOT CLINICS
The Canadian health care system is
undergoing a fundamental shift in the manner by which its services are
delivered. The health care system of the 21st century will be
one of publicly funded, privately run organizations. Furthermore, delivery
centers will be streamlined into areas of specialization to take advantage
of economies of scale. Gone are the days of large government run
hospitals. That being said, HBO2 Therapy Clinics Inc.' stand
poised to capture a piece of this $90 billion per year market with its
privately owned, accredited clinics, specializing in hyperbaric oxygen
therapy.
Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy is a
medical treatment that is used to treat a number of' illnesses. During HBO
treatment, the patient inhales 100% oxygen while positioned in a chamber
in which the surrounding pressure is slowly increased to two or three
times normal air pressure at sea level. The elevated pressure level in
the chamber increases the amount of oxygen absorbed by the blood and
carried to body tissue. The additional amount of oxygen enhances the
body's ability to repair tissue damage. HBO therapy has been medically
proven to successfully treat a number of ailments with its primary markets
being patients with chronic conditions such as diabetic open wounds,
osteoradionecrosis carbon monoxide toxicity and osteomyelitis.
The market for HBO therapy is
demographically driven that is, older populations tend to have greater
demand for hyperbaric therapy. As such, expansion of the HBO2
clinic will be based on a demographic analysis both in terms of age and
ailment prevalence. Having such a specific market also means that HB02 can
target its marketing program with highly effective results. Media
advertising in local newspapers and health magazines in conjunction with
interviews on talk radio all help to educate the public and make them
aware of the HBO2 clinic in their area. Being a private clinic
means that a much more proactive approach to attracting patients must be
taken as simply relying on physician referrals is not always profitable.
With the ageing Canadian population
the demand for health services are straining health authorities budgets.
HBO therapy is not only a more effective manner of treatment for patients
but also represents a health care cost saving to the government. Few
investment opportunities, if any, can offer similar growth potential in
such a new and dynamic market, as can HBO2 Therapy Clinics
